In the first half of 2012, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 83.62 billion USD, up by 18.9% over the same period of last year. This growth rate was 10.9% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The trade volume of agricultural products accounted for 4.5% of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade volume. Among that, the export was 29.47 billion USD, a 4.3% year-on-year increase, while the import was 54.15 billion USD, a 28.8% year-on-year increase. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 24.68 billion USD, a 78.7% increase over the same period of last year. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.1% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.1% of the country¡¯s total import.
