In January and February 2012, China’s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to USD 24.94 billion, up by 17.0% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was USD 9.12 billion, a 7.3% year-on-year increase, while the import was USD 15.82 billion, a 23.4% year-on-year increase. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to USD 6.7 billion, a 54.7% increase over the same period of last year. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.4% of China’s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 5.9% of the country’s total import.
