In January 2012, China’s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 13.14 billion USD, down by 5.3% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 5.41 billion USD, a 4.3% year-on-year decrease, while the import was 7.73 billion USD, a 6% year-on-year decrease. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 2.32 billion USD, a 9.4% decrease over the same period of last year. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.6% of China’s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.3% of the country’s total import.
