In the twelve months of 2011, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to USD 154.03 billion, up by 27.5% over the same period of last year. This growth rate was 5% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. Among that, the export value was USD 60.13 billion, a 23% year-on-year increase, while the import was USD 93.91 billion, a 30.6% year-on-year increase. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to USD 33.78 billion, a 46.6% increase over the same period of last year. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.2% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 5.4% of the country¡¯s total import.
