In the first ten months of 2011, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to USD 121.71 billion, up by 28.9% over the same period of last year. This growth rate was 4.6% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. Among that, the export value was USD 47.92 billion, a 26% year-on-year increase, while the import was USD 73.79 billion, a 30.8% year-on-year increase. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to USD 25.87 billion, a 40.6% increase over the same period of last year. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.1% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 5.2% of the country¡¯s total import.
