In the first nine months of 2011, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to USD 109.56 billion, up by 28.4% over the same period of last year. This growth rate was 3.8% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. Among that, the export value was USD 43.07 billion, a 26.7% year-on-year increase, while the import was USD 66.49 billion, a 29.6% year-on-year increase. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to USD 23.42 billion, a 35.1% increase over the same period of last year. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.1% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 5.2% of the country¡¯s total import.
