In the first seven months of 2011, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to USD 83.33 billion, up by 28.9% over the same period of last year. This growth rate was 3.8% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. Among that, the export value was USD 33.22 billion, a 28.7% year-on-year increase, while the import was USD 50.11 billion, a 29.1% year-on-year increase. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to USD 16.89 billion, a 29.6% increase over the same period of last year. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.2% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 5.1% of the country¡¯s total import.
