In the first six months of 2011, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to USD 70.3 billion, up by 28.6% over the same period of last year. This growth rate was 2.8% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. Among that, the export value was USD 28.24 billion, a 30% year-on-year increase, while the import was USD 42.05 billion, a 27.5% year-on-year increase. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to USD 13.81 billion, a 22.2% increase over the same period of last year. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.2% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 5.1% of the country¡¯s total import.
