In the first four months of 2011, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to USD 45.99 billion, up by 32.7% over the same period of last year. This growth rate was 4.2% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. Among that, the export value was USD 18.68 billion, a 34.4% year-on-year increase, while the import was USD 27.31 billion, a 31.4% year-on-year increase. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to USD 8.63 billion, a 25.6% increase over the same period of last year. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.4% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 4.9% of the country¡¯s total import.
