According to Chinese Customs, in the 12 months of 2014, China’s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 192.82 billion USD, up by 4.2% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 71.34 billion USD, a 6.3% year-on-year increase, while the import was 121.48 billion USD, a 3% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 50.14 billion USD, a 1.3% decrease over the same period of last year. The growth rate of agricultural trade was 0.8% higher than that of the nation’s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 0.2% higher than the growth rate of the nation’s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 2.6% higher than the growth rate of the nation’s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3% of China’s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.2% of the country’s total import.
