According to Chinese Customs, in the first 10 months of 2014, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 158.73 billion USD, up by 7.1% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 57.36 billion USD, a 7% year-on-year increase, while the import was 101.37 billion USD, a 7.1% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 44.01 billion USD, a 7.3% increase over the same period of last year. The growth rate of agricultural trade was 3.3% higher than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 1.2% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 5.5% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.2% of the country¡¯s total import.
