According to Chinese Customs, in the first 9 months of 2014, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 145.07 billion USD, up by 8.5% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 51.19 billion USD, a 6.7% year-on-year increase, while the import was 93.88 billion USD, a 9.5% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 42.69 billion USD, a 13% increase over the same period of last year. The growth rate of agricultural trade was 5.2% higher than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 1.6% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 8.2% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.4% of the country¡¯s total import.
