In the first three months of 2011, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to USD 33.33 billion, up by 32.0% over the same period of last year. This growth rate was 2.5% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. Among that, the export value was USD 13.56 billion, a 33.0% year-on-year increase, while the import was USD 19.78 billion, a 31.4% year-on-year increase. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to USD 6.22 billion, a 27.9% increase over the same period of last year. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.4% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 4.9% of the country¡¯s total import.
