According to Chinese Customs, in the first 8 months of 2014, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 129.93 billion USD, up by 9.3% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 45.31 billion USD, a 6.6% year-on-year increase, while the import was 84.62 billion USD, a 10.8% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 39.31 billion USD, a 16.1% increase over the same period of last year. The growth rate of agricultural trade was 7% higher than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 2.8% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 10.2% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.1% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.6% of the country¡¯s total import.
