In January and February 2011, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to USD 21.32 billion, up by 34.1% over the same period of last year. This growth rate was 5.8% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. Among that, the export value was USD 8.49 billion, a 27.6% year-on-year increase, while the import was USD 12.82 billion, a 38.8% year-on-year increase. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to USD 4.33 billion, a 67.7% increase over the same period of last year. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.4% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 5.2% of the country¡¯s total import.
