According to Chinese Customs, in the first 7 months of 2014, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 114.36 billion USD, up by 11% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 39.48 billion USD, a 6.4% year-on-year increase, while the import was 74.88 billion USD, a 13.6% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 35.4 billion USD, a 22.7% increase over the same period of last year. The growth rate of agricultural trade was 9% higher than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 3.4% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 12.6% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.1% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.7% of the country¡¯s total import.
