According to Chinese Customs, in the first 6 months of 2014, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 96.77 billion USD, up by 11.8% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 33.44 billion USD, a 5.9% year-on-year increase, while the import was 63.32 billion USD, a 15.2% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 29.88 billion USD, a 27.9% increase over the same period of last year. The growth rate of agricultural trade was 10.6% higher than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 5% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 13.7% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.1% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.6% of the country¡¯s total import.
