According to Chinese Customs, in the first 4 months of 2014, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 64.06 billion USD, up by 13.4% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 21.49 billion USD, a 3.9% year-on-year increase, while the import was 42.58 billion USD, a 19% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 21.09 billion USD, a 39.6% increase over the same period of last year. The growth of agricultural trade was 18.4% higher than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 6.2% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 17.6% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.2% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.6% of the country¡¯s total import.
