According to Chinese Customs, in the first 3 months of 2014, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 46.14 billion USD, up by 12.2% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 15.44 billion USD, a 2.6% year-on-year increase, while the import was 30.7 billion USD, a 17.7% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 15.26 billion USD, a 38.2% increase over the same period of last year. The growth of agricultural trade was 13.2% higher than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 6% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 16.1% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.1% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.5% of the country¡¯s total import.
