According to Chinese Customs, in January and February 2014, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 30.38 billion USD, up by 14.7% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 9.94 billion USD, a 1.1% year-on-year increase, while the import was 20.44 billion USD, a 22.7% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 10.5 billion USD, a 53.7% increase over the same period of last year. The growth of agricultural trade was 10.9% higher than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 2.7% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 12.7% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.1% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.5% of the country¡¯s total import.
