According to Chinese Customs, in January 2014, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 18.34 billion USD, up by 13.7% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 6.72 billion USD, a 12.9% year-on-year increase, while the import was 11.61 billion USD, a 14.2% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 4.89 billion USD, a 15.9% increase over the same period of last year. The growth of agricultural trade was 3.4% higher than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 2.3% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 4.2% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3.2% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.6% of the country¡¯s total import.
