According to Chinese Customs, in the 12 months of 2013, China’s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 185 billion USD, up by 6.3% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 67.1 billion USD, a 7.2% year-on-year increase, while the import was 117.91 billion USD, a 5.8% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 50.81 billion USD, a 3.8% increase over the same period of last year. The growth of agricultural trade was 1.3% lower than that of the nation’s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 0.7% lower than the growth rate of the nation’s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 1.5% lower than the growth rate of the nation’s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3% of China’s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6% of the country’s total import.
