According to Chinese Customs, in the first 10 months of 2013, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 148.27 billion USD, up by 4.8% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 53.62 billion USD, a 7.1% year-on-year increase, while the import was 94.65 billion USD, a 3.6% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 41.03 billion USD, a 0.8% decrease over the same period of last year. The growth of agricultural trade was 2.8% lower than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 0.7% lower than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 3.7% lower than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 5.9% of the country¡¯s total import.
