According to Chinese Customs, in the first 6 months of 2013, China’s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 86.53 billion USD, up by 3.4% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 31.58 billion USD, a 6.9% year-on-year increase, while the import was 54.95 billion USD, a 1.4% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 23.37 billion USD, a 5.1% decrease over the same period of last year. The growth of agricultural trade was 5.2% lower than that of the nation’s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 3.5% lower than the growth rate of the nation’s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 5.3% lower than the growth rate of the nation’s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3% of China’s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 5.8% of the country’s total import.
