According to Chinese Customs, in the first 5 months of 2013, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 71.92 billion USD, up by 4% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 26.33 billion USD, a 7.3% year-on-year increase, while the import was 45.59 billion USD, a 2.2% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 19.26 billion USD, a 4.4% decrease over the same period of last year. The growth of agricultural trade was 6.9% lower than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural export was 6.2% lower than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export, while the growth of agricultural import was 6% lower than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 5.7% of the country¡¯s total import.
