According to Chinese Customs, in January and February 2013, China’s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 26.49 billion USD, up by 6.2% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 9.83 billion USD, a 7.8% year-on-year increase, while the import was 16.66 billion USD, a 5.3% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 6.83 billion USD, a 1.9% increase over the same period of last year. The growth rate of agricultural import was 0.3% higher than the growth rate of the nation’s total import. The growth of agricultural trade was 8% lower than that of the nation’s total foreign trade, while the growth of agricultural export was 15.8% lower than the growth rate of the nation’s total export. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3% of China’s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6% of the country’s total import.
