In the first seven months of 2012, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 98.37 billion USD, up by 18.1% over the same period of last year. This growth rate was 11% higher than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The trade volume of agricultural products accounted for 4.5% of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade volume. Among that, the export was 34.38 billion USD, a 3.5% year-on-year increase, while the import was 63.99 billion USD, a 27.7% year-on-year increase. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 29.61 billion USD, a 75.3% increase over the same period of last year. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 6.2% of the country¡¯s total import.
