On 1 March 2012, President Bian Zhenhu met with Mr. Mamuka Gamkrelidze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to China and Mr. David Pipinashvili, Counsellor of Embassy of Georgia.
Embassador Gamkrelidze introduced the production and export of wine and tea from Georgia, and expressed the hope to expand the market share of Georgian wine in China. He also expressed the hope that more Chinese companies can invest in Georgia and cooperate with counterparts in the upgrading of its tea and fruit juice industry. Mr. Embassador also expressed his interest in the progress of China-Georgia FTA.
Mr. Bian revealed that in recent years China’s consumption and import of wine grew rapidly. There were more varieties of wine in the domestic market. There’s good potential that Georgian wine come to the Chinese market. Facilitating the import is an important duty of the Chamber of Commerce. Every year CFNA organizes dozens of promotional events for imported products. It is willing to provide convenience and favorable policy to promote the cooperation between companies of China and Georgia. The chamber of commerce would like to work with Georgian side to facilitate the signing of bilateral FTA.
During the meeting, both sides expressed the hope to keep close contact for further cooperative opportunities. The Information and Membership Department, Fruit and Vegetable Department, Tea Drinks and Horticulture Department and Business Development Department of CFNA presented at the meeting.
