"China-Uruguay Agricultural and Food Industry Exchange Seminar"£¬ jointly held by CFNA, the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Uruguay (MRREE) and the Uruguay Embassy in China, was held on the evening of June 15,. Ms. Ana In¨¦s Rocanova, general director of the International Economic Affairs of MRREE, Mr. Fernando lugris, Uruguayan ambassador to China, Mr. Martin Orlando, deputy head of the mission and counsellor of the embassy, and heads of 12 Uruguayan agricultural and food organizations and business associations attended the online meeting.
In her speech, Ms. Ana In¨¦s Rocanova stressed that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uruguay, bilateral relations have been advancing steadily, especially in the field of agricultural and food trade. Now, China has become the most important trading partner of Uruguay. At the same time, China is also Uruguay's second largest source of imports, second only to Brazil. Uruguay is the first country in the region to join the "the Belt and Road" initiative. In 2023, Uruguay and China will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. At present, the two countries are actively conducting feasibility studies and consultations on the signing of the "free trade agreement". In the future, Uruguay hopes to promote bilateral relations into comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership through more bilateral and multilateral exchanges.
On behalf of CFNA, vice president Yu Lu first thanked the Uruguayan Ministry of Foreign Relations, the Uruguayan Embassy and the agricultural and food sector for their long-term support and trust to CFNA. Yu Lu said that Uruguay not only has a beautiful natural environment and unique local customs, but also abounds in high-quality food and agricultural products. Uruguay's meat products, dairy products, aquatic and seafood products and some fruits have been widely recognized in the Chinese market due to their outstanding quality. Yu Lu also stressed that trade organizations all over the world have played a very important role in the market system and that she is full of enthusiasm and confidence for further deepening cooperation between trade organizations of China and Uruguay in the future. CFNA and the Uruguayan agricultural and food industry have established a good foundation for cooperation on different occasions. In the future, CFNA looks forward to seeing more exchanges between the two countries s and making tangible contributions to the comprehensive strategic partnership of the two countries.
During the meeting, vice president Yu Lu also shared with all participants the latest overview of China's agricultural trade and the food import and export trade between China and Uruguay. CFNA also invited relevant person in charge from the China International Import Expo Bureau to make a brief introduction on the preparation progress of the "Fifth China International Import Expo". Yu Lu hoped that more Uruguayan food and agricultural products could enter the Chinese market through the Expo.
