On March 24, vice president Xu Xiaohu attended the China-New Zealand High-level Dialogue on Fruit Industry Policy & the Inauguration Ceremony for New Zealand New Season Kiwifruit to China. Xu Xiaohu delivered a speech on China's fruit import and export trade and China-New Zealand fruit trade in recent years, and analyzed the contrast in China's fruit import and export market in the Q & A session.

Vice president Xu pointed out that with China's accession to the World Trade Organization, China has accelerated its market opening, and the national economic growth and purchasing power have increased year by year. China's fruit import market has shown huge potential and room for growth. The epidemic has made consumers have new understanding in dietary structure and food safety, which has also stimulated further demand for high-quality fruits in the consumer market. China's fruit import market has always maintained strong growth despite the adverse trend. In 2021, China’s fruit import reached a new high level, with an amount of US$13.47 billion, a year-on-year increase of 30.9%. New Zealand is China's largest supplier of fresh kiwifruit and fresh apples, with an import value of US$520 million and US$110 million, accounting for 93.8% and 70.9% of China's global import of fresh kiwifruit and fresh apples. Xu Looks forward to the continuous strengthening of fruit trade between the two countries in the future. As China gradually becomes the new center of the world's fruit trade, the successful holding of the first International Fruit Conference has provided a more efficient and convenient high-quality platform for the fruit industry at home and abroad. Xu looks forward to seeing more domestic and foreign fruit companies coming to the 2022 International Fruit Conference in September this year.
