Vice president Yu Lu attended the fourth garlic anti-dumping sunset review hearing on May 16 in Brasilia. In her speech, Yu Lu stressed that the anti-dumping measures adopted by Brazil on garlic import from China had seriously affected the Chinese garlic exporters and the Brazilian consumers. Yu Lu hoped that in order to promote the sustainable and healthy development of Sino-Brazilian agricultural trade, relevant Brazilian organizations could put an end to these measures under the premise of protecting the interests of Chinese garlic farmers and Brazilian consumers in a more open and mutual-benefiting manner. Attending were nearly 100 representatives including officials from the economic and commercial department of the Embassy of China in Brazil, delegates from Brazilian garlic organizations, Brazilian garlic farmers and importers, and Chinese and Brazilian attorneys.
Brazil is one of China¡¯s major garlic export markets. Since Brazil started anti-dumping investigation on imported garlic from China in 1994, CFNA has actively attended three sunset review hearings in 2001, 2006, and 2012 on behalf of the garlic industry in China. This is the fourth time.
