Co-hosted by CFNA and the Indian Embassy in Beijing, the Seminar on the Promotion of Indian rice in China was held in Beijing on Oct. 29. Prashant Lokhande, counselor of the Indian Embassy in Beijing and President Bian Zhenhu delivered opening remarks during the event.
Arvind Kumar Gupta, a representative from Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, explained the latest updates to the Indian rice industry and the export potential to the Chinese market. Samples of Indian rice were presented at the event to showcase the new exchange.
According to an announcement released by the General Administration of Customs of China in June 2018, China has allowed India¡¯s basmati rice and non-basmati varieties of rice to enter the Chinese market. In October, the registered Indian overseas rice producers have increased to 24, six of which attended the seminar and communicated with the Chinese companies.
